The History of Aronia

It seems that the deserved amount of credit for evolution's role in existence is not given. More often than not it is even criticized by closed-minded beings that take part in poorly organized religions. Evolution is much more than a theory. It is a fact of life. As with any other planet or universe, Aronia evolved. First from a frost layered rock to a ball of water, followed by one large continent that later split into several smaller ones. The greatest physical difference was that Aronia is a large planet. It is roughly twice the size of Earth. The atmosphere helps to keep the equator and poles from too extreme temperature fluctuations that would make those areas completely uninhabitable.

The races, which may seem quite peculiar, grew as humans did. In more than one way Earth and Aronia are the same, but they thrive in parallel universes. Everything started as a single-celled organism which evolved to the different beings that now inhabit the planet. There are many native races to Aronia, but humans as we know them are not one of them.

Unlike Earth, Aronia's energies are somewhat different. The energy which encompasses magic is more common due to simply having a higher concentration and also because there were no historical figures who closed the minds of citizens. Magical energy evolved like the rest of the planet, changing to fit the needs of its users. As the ages passed even technology rooted itself without setback from external forces to surpass Earth. Aronia, like any other world, developed on its own vector in a similar way to most other life-bearing planets. Its unique attributes lie in the overall saturation of the energy which is known as magic and the role that energy had on the fabric of space and time, and the planets inhabitants. This has made the planet a sort of 'hub' for inter-planar travelers (intentional and unintentional travelers). It is not unusual for individuals to pass in and out of the plane daily. It was once reported that a thousand new, unique beings from unique planes of existence arrived in Aronia in a single day.

Aronia continues to evolve and change as the years pass and more beings of different types come to reside on it. Most of these beings are singular in their arrival on Aronia. Occasionally a handful from the same world will be thrown into the Aronia. Only once has there ever been a mass exodus and that was when a large group of Earth Humans fled their own planet as it crumbled into death and anarchy.

Crossing of Planes - Earth to Aronia

Aronia was commonly referred to by Earth humans as the Astral Plane because the first visitors did so without physical form while they slept. This created threads of connection between the planets that would aid many centuries later. The two realms soon became permanently connected, allowing one to pass consciously into the previously known astral.

The people of Earth had always known that other planets existed, but Aronia was where people first began to experiment with magic infused Earth technology. Many portals were opened on Earth, such as the Bermuda Triangle, the Dead Sea, and only the cosmos knows how many more. In the early days following discovery of this new, conjoined realm, it was kept a closely held secret. Only those who had discovered it, and their most trusted, knew of Aronia. Aronia was an odd place, its people so seemingly time lapsed from one place to the next. Trevisan, a city of the future, surpassed the earth's technology by centuries. But only two days ride by horse was a village still living with medieval technologies infused with magic. Many years were spent studying this new place - it was originally thought to be a past version of Earth but the use of modern technology crushed that theory.

However, the secret was out about this new world within a couple of decades. The government tried to take control of the known portals to the other planet - an effort with the intent to greedily secure Aronia as a resource. This backfired when the first equipped military operation attempted to enter and gain control of Ombra di Notta. The twenty man force was annihilated in a city that had been viewed as peaceful to the original travelers. The portals were locked down for a century before they were purchased by several other companies in that time to use for scientific research of magic. These studies were frowned upon by the major religions and looked at as heresy. Most people didn't believe in magic beyond their religious texts. In an effort to make these studies more appealing to the major world religions, things were drawn through the portals that should never have been.

As the Earth crumbled to greed, corruption, and bigotry humans began to accept magic because it was a potential of hope. Constant war, famine, and pestilence took its toll on humanity. Only those with enough desire for a better life beyond their home planet and everything they ever knew of science ventured forth to another world which had a course around another sun. Many thought this was a cult and wrote it off until the bitter end.

In 2386, as held by Old World (common phrase to describe Earth) scholars, a great change came. The portals, which the humans used to pass between worlds, were allowing other menacing creatures to enter from other planes to Earth. Evil spread across Earth with unrelenting speed, which only added fuel to the fires of corruption and greed which strangled the planet. Predatory beasts and entities of great malice took hold of earth in a single week. Tens of millions were massacred. Those left took shelter where they could, but it was not enough. It was an unknown group of people who finally began to push the remaining humans through the portals. To their surprise, efforts on the Aronian side were made to widen these portals so that more survivors could pass through. The pressure of the magic began to destabilize the portals. The worlds split then from the imbalance, leaving Earth to its last days. The humans of Earth easily mingled in with the old ways of Aronians.

In order to help the humans with the massive change, a large portion of the continent Luestrife was given to them to colonize. Most moved to reside there, though there was a number who took to Trevisan and other areas around the globe.
